a lot of young lads say they wana become a gamekeeper and dont actually no what it involves or the time and effort you have to put in to do it. as there are so many looking for gamekeeping jobs this can often stop those who really want it from gettn that job.

heres a useful link to start and see what it really involves.

yes, that is true and i agree with you, i am currently doing gamekeeper work for a friend of my dads with the last 2 years, feeding pheasants and partridge during the summer from about June/July, until the end of the season in January and i will say it's hard work. It is a tough enough job which i would say, requires a lot of exercise so you should be physically fit. You work long hours in all weather conditions, whether it's raining or snowing or fine outside, you still have to go out and work. i find it best off to start early in the morning, at around sunrise and get everything done at a nice steady pace. I also say good luck to everyone out there who wishes to become a future gamekeeper. I myself do not wish of this job in the future as I've gone towards a different job, but i will still help out with the game-keeping for the next few years to come...

hi there, im going to sparsholt in september to study game and wildlife management. i know how long the hours are as i have worked alongside a gamekeeper for many years. the end result from a years work is sooooo satisfying and being out in the countryside makes the job ever more enjoyable. as previously mentioned, if you want to be a game keeper but not sure what its like, get some experience to make sure you definately want to follow this career.

cheers james
